Rodeo Set for June 28-29

The Norman Native American and Frontier Days Rodeo will be held June 28 and 29 at the Norman Roundup Club arena, located at 519 60th St. NE (between Alameda and Robinson). Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children. Discounted advance tickets are available at Homeland on Lindsey, Classic 50’s and all Norman Republic Bank locations. Gates open at 6 p.m., with the performance set to begin at 8 nightly.

Events include saddle/ranch bronc riding, calf roping, team roping, bull riding, women’s barrel racing and women’s breakaway roping. The concession stand will be open.

Library Sets Summer Sundays

Summer Sundays are musical inside Norman Public Library West during July with several free afternoon events to wrap up the weekend.

At 2 p.m. July 7, Mariachi Orgullo de America brings 17 years of performing experience as it represents Mexican and Latin culture throughout this part of the country in its concerts.

Name That “Hamiltune,” at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 14, is a test of knowledge for fans of the Tony Award-winning musical “Hamilton.” Participants will play a musical trivia contest based on the musical.

Signing Sad: The Life of Dorothy Ellis, at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 28, is a performance by the group Ebony Voices that looks at the story and talents of Oklahoma’s “Miss Blues,” Dorothy Ellis.

Royal Bavaria Announces July Lineup

Each Thursday, Friday and Saturday through July, Royal Bavaria will feature live music, as well as the best authentic German food and brew available in the state, in its beergarten.

Bands featured this month are: Greg Singleton, July 5, and Heartbreak Rodeo, July 6; Hunter Thomas, July 11, Route 66, July 12, and Shawn Proffitt, July 13; Mandy Brixey and Southern Charcuterie, July 19, and the Redgrass String Band, July 20; and Route 66, July 25, Tim Brauer, July 26, and Shawn Profitt, July 27. The performer for July 18 is to be determined.
