Don’t Leave Your Pooch Out of the Celebration

La Baguette’s Chocolate Bourbon Pecan Pie


5 oz. whole eggs

1 cup inverted sugar

1/3 cup granulated sugar

3 tbsp. unsalted butter

5 oz. semi-sweet chocolate

½ cup large pecan pieces

1/8 cup good bourbon (Bullet)


Melt butter and semi-sweet chocolate and set aside. Mix eggs and both sugars until the sugars dissolve. Combine the sugar and egg mixture with the butter and chocolate. Add the bourbon. Mix until incorporated well.

Put the pecans in the unbaked pie shell (dough recipe to follow). Pour the above mixture on top of the pecans. Put the pie in a 350 degree preheated oven. Bake for 45-50 minutes. Let cool on a rack, then drizzle melted chocolate on top. Enjoy!


1 pound pastry flour

11 oz. unsalted butter or vegetable shortening

5 oz. cold water

½ tsp salt

1 tbsp. sugar


Dissolve sugar and salt in water. Mix flour and butter just enough to have a coarse crumb look. Add the water mixture and mix till combined. Do not over mix. Refrigerate the dough for one hour.

Take dough out of the fridge. Sprinkle flour on a clean table surface. Roll the dough to a quarter inch thickness and line it in a pie pan.

Pumpkin Pie Dog Treats


3 tbsp. peanut butter

1 cup whole wheat flour

½ cup water

1 egg

1 cup pumpkin puree (not pumpkin pie filling)


Preheat oven to 350° F. Lightly spray or grease a 24-cup mini muffin tin. Combine peanut butter, whole wheat flour, water and egg in a medium bowl and stir well to combine. Divide dough evenly into mini muffin cups, press into bottom and up sides.

Spread the pumpkin puree evenly over crusts. Bake for 18-20 minutes until tops begin to brown.

Remove from oven and cool completely before placing in an airtight container. You can refrigerate these doggie treats for a week or freeze for up to three months. Treat your pooch in moderation.
