This, the May issue of Cleveland County Lifestyle, is dedicated to the ladies, or women, as my activist mother preferred to be called. Before continuing, I’d like to say THANK YOU and HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY to those of you out there who are blessed with sons and daughters, be they children or adults. Although I’m not a mom myself (though I count myself as a “second” mom to my niece, Giving Back columnist Lindsey Davies), I know that this is a job that, while offering some of the greatest rewards on Earth, also is not for the faint of heart. Sons and daughters, please make sure to wish your moms a Happy Mother’s Day, in person and with a hug, if at all possible.

Our cover story for the second year is on our “Women of Influence.” Representing a myriad of career fields, from marketing pro to mayor, these women excel in their career fields while also giving back to our community through generous donations of their time, vision, leadership and (often) pocketbooks. These women are helping to make Cleveland County a better place for all of us to live and work—and what wonderful role models they are!

Also in this issue you’ll learn about a luxury houseboat called The Red Pony that you can book for your own girlfriends’ getaway (or other purpose) via Described as a 14-by-68-foot houseboat and floating condominium, it’s docked on beautiful Pine Cove Marina in scenic Lake Tenkiller State Park. The houseboat sleeps 10 people comfortably with all of the features of a five-star hotel. Check it out in our Road Trip department.

As usual, we’ve tried to include stories that will capture our readers’ varied interests and that shine the spotlight on our neighbors and local businesses. Hope you find the issue both entertaining and enlightening!
