Businesses Help Make Summer Dreams Come True
Ready to ramp up your summer fun?
For many men (many women too), summer’s more than just a time to get away from the office. It’s a time to address year-long dreams of adventure and thrills: mountain climbing, hiking and camping, scuba and sky diving, and such.
But for many, those dreams involve ownership of a motorized or water recreational craft.
Whether you’re looking to get down and dirty on an off-road vehicle or on a lake or river on a speed boat, Mud Dawg MotorSports in Moore and Wilson Watersports in Edmond can help you achieve your fantasy.
Paul Anthony, a principle partner with Jeff Smith of Mud Dawg MotorSports, established in February 2016, says their business is run by people who are as passionate about their merchandise as are their customers.
“We realize the need to put fun back into our free time,” he says. “The ability to have a durable, functional off road 4×4 that we can go out and hunt, fish, mud bog, or just cruise around town with the top off inspired us to bring these fantastic fun rides to Oklahoma.
“Having the freedom to go where you want, when you want, and turn heads while doing it, separates these vehicles from traditional UTVs, side-by-sides and ATVs.”
Mud Dawg carries the entire Oreion lineup, which consists of two and four-door vehicles known as “Reepers.”
Their most popular model is the two-door Reeper 4×4 (approximately $15,500), which comes with front and rear locking differentials, 3,000# winch, receiver hitch, soft top and full vinyl window enclosure. For the serious off-roader, there’s the Reeper 4 4×4 model ($18,500) with 1100cc inline 4cyl motor, five-speed manual transmission, push button 4×4, soft top and five-window full enclosure, 3000# winch, receiver hitch and wiring harness, and stereo.
Check out Mud Dawg’s website for a listing of legal off-roading sites in Oklahoma and other states.
Todd and Laura Wilson at Wilson Watersports, founded in 1999, say their target audience is families “wanting to spend really fun, quality time together.”
“Most people,” Laura notes, “plan big vacations to spend quality time away from work with their families. If you have ever spent thousands of dollars on a family vacation, only to realize that it’s over before you know it, you should seriously think about boating. For what a vacation cost these days, you can have a healthy down payment on a new boat and make years of fantastic memories with your family.”
Wilson Watersports caries only Malibu and Axis boats, the No. 1-selling watersports boats in the world. “These type of boats have become the most versatile, family-friendly boats on earth,” explains Todd.
Their most popular product line are the Malibu boats, and among these, their best-seller is the Malibu Wakesetter 23LSV. For those on a tighter budget, or newbies just getting their “feet wet” (pardon the pun), a good choice is the Axis A20, starting in the high $50,000 range.
But if you’re a serious water enthusiast and have a generous budget, Wilson Watersports offers a luxury line of boats as well, including the 24-foot Axis or 23- to 25-foot Malibus, with prices ranging from the high $80,000s to $160,000-plus.
Both Todd and Laura waterskied competitively as youth and have spent a great deal of time on the water, so like the management of Mud Dawgs, they understand and share a passion for their product at least equal to that of their customers.
“Wilson Watersports is, hands down, the most knowledgeable tow boat dealership around,” says Todd. “Our dealership takes every customer out to test drive the boats they are considering. Once they have made their selection, we will take them out again to get them comfortable with their new boat. I cannot count how many times people have told us that if another dealership offered them a demo, that the salesman conducting the demo had no idea how to operate the boat they drove.”
Wilson Watersports also boasts a full-service repair shop and pro shop.
So what are you waiting for? Get out there, get dirty, get wet, and have some fun!
