Murals, artist-inspired bike racks transformational
Unexpected art greets the eye almost everywhere one turns in Norman. This wall-sized mural, located at Porter Avenue and East Main Street, is one of several that have sprung up around town in recent years. And thanks to a program through the Norman Public Arts Board and the Norman Arts Council, artist-designed bike racks have been installed downtown and elsewhere. The goal? To increase the use of bicycles for transportation around Norman and to support the state’s evolving arts culture. How cool is that? You can donate to the NPAB by giving through your City of Norman utility bill. We’d love to feature public artworks across Cleveland County in future issues, so send us your suggestions.
